This Framed Pelican print is created from an original commissioned quilt of the "Catholic Pelican" by Mary Pascoe. This symbolism is of a mother pelican who, in times of famine, would pierce her own heart to feed her babies her blood. Of course she would lose her own life while giving this life to her own. The Pelican is Jesus in this metaphor who gave his life for us. Jesus continues to feed us with His Body and Blood in the holy Eucharist.
