Here in Florida we see bald eagles more often in the winter and early spring as they are nesting. I liked this close-up of the head in the photo I used for inspiration and it was fun making this piece in fabric.

I created this original Bald Eagle art quilt with high quality cotton fabric and wool batting. I always start creating my animals with the eyes so that the personality of the animal is apparent before I choose the fabrics and colors to use for the rest of the quilt. I zig-zag around all of the pieces with invisible thread to get the unique look and texture.
